Great MinneBar

Fantastic MinneBar this weekend. We presented on the Google App Engine again. You can see slides here. It was fun. Lots of interest. Turns out a giftag developer was there (one of the larger App Engine apps). He was too shy to speak up (oh well), but afterwards told us "scalable is an understatement."

Thanks to Luke, Ben, Matt, sponsors, presenters, participants, bartenders.

It's Hard to Give Things Away

I know a fellow offering a free airplane ticket to anyone who persuades him. Just convince him you should get the ticket, and done. So far, all the reasons he's received are poor enough that he's holding on to it. This is a contest with no direct dollar motive. Maybe he's altruistic, maybe it's fun, maybe he's trying to draw attention. Anyway, surely there are people out there with a desire for that ticket who are so creative or with such interesting circumstances they'd have him fedex-ing it at his own expense.

However, he can't reach them just by offering the ticket. Probably he should find the places where creative people will see his offer, maybe Craigslist, Reddit, Digg, and so on. He actually will have to do work to give it away! Sound familiar, Internet startups?

Intro to Google App Engine @ TC-GTUG

Last night we presented an introduction to the Google App Engine at the Twin Cities Google Technology User Group (TC-GTUG). Thanks to Corey at Medicom Digital for sponsoring and hosting, and to the group for a lively session. Avoiding boredom was our aspiration, and we had fun!

Here are the slides for the curious:

We didn't get to the datastore slides, but left 'em anyway.
